If you are already in the UK, you may be permitted to switch into the Tier 1 visa category without having to return to your home country to make the application! When granted, the Tier 1 visa will be issued to you for an initial period of 3yrs, at which time you may then apply for it to be extended by another 2yrs. When you have been in the UK under the Tier 1 visa for 5yrs, you then have the opportunity to apply for Full UK Residency (we can also do this for you). When you have been granted full residency, you are then able to continue to remain in the UK indefinitely, and you may shortly thereafter apply to become a full British Citizen.
If you are switching over from the HSMP visa, then the time that you have already spent here under the HSMP Visa will count towards your future application for full residency. For example, if you hold the HSMP visa for 2yrs and then you switch over to the Tier 1 visa, when you have done 3yrs of the Tier 1 visa you can then apply for residency.
For those of you who will be applying from outside the UK, the Tier 1 application in many cases is now applied for online via the British Embassy/High Commission/Consulate in your home country. This means that you do not any longer have to submit your original documents to us here in the UK for processing!
What we do for you is to advise you as to what documents you need for your application (we recommend that you scan or fax them to us). We then check your documents to make sure that they meet the application requirements. We also prepare the official application paperwork for you which you then just need to sign and submit with your application. All of this work is done by the efficiency of email. You do not need to send us your valuable original documents!
